Paul B. Bertan, Ph.D., for Congress-2010
N.Y.State 25th Congressional District
I am running for Congress to preserve the greatness and excellence of our Nation. With the help of the LORD, I want liberty and the pursuit of happiness and education for every person regardless of sex, race, disability, color or creed.
But we have problems that prevent liberty and happiness, chief of which is the huge amount of poor quality "fiat" paper money flooding our economy and government, like heroin, creating inflationary false "bubbles" in the stock markets and our housing industry.
From 1787 to 1913, we had no inflation, Inflation is a creation of government to pay its debts and rob its own citizens. One could even buy better quality items like steam engines for the same price as the years passed.
In 1913 the Federal Reserve was created, which is neither Federal nor Reserve, but which is a private banking system, to circulate our money and charge us interest.
The early Presidents warned that such a "Central Bank" which they feared then as now, would be dominated by foreign powers.
A man could earn a dollar a day in 1900 and pay his family's way, but not now as the dollar has shrunk to about 1% of its 1900 value.
In 1971, we took the gold backing off the paper dollar though our Constitution said to "coin money from silver and gold".
In 1988 we passed an act, allowing governments to support the markets. In 1999 we passed an act, allowing banks to gamble with brokerages, which increased the flood of paper money and brought us to our present "depression".
To correct the above mistakes, I promise to join with those congressmen who will: - Back the dollar with our farm commodities since our government silver, and much of our gold, and oil and steel, are gone. Commodity backing will strengthen small countries, free them from the International Monetary Fund and international banks and make them less dependent on President Obama's bill to give them $854 million.
- Put the Federal Reserve circulation back into the public US Treasury where it belongs while allowing their banks to continue "normal" banking practices.
- Allow partial privatization of the Social Security system which will return retirees more money and fund the system, according to Newt Gingrich, with the DOW approaching 1000 and with Congressional oversight against bad market practices.
- Adopt a flat tax to save countless hours and expense with our complex tax code.
- Advocate scholarships for students to study our energy problems. I have given gift annuity scholarships to the following colleges: SUNY-Albany, SUNY-Binghamton and Onondaga Community College.
